At the core of MAPBM is a consolidated PBM quality assessment model, based on standardized quality indicators. This model translates hospital data into actionable insights and informs customized hospital PBM scorecards, enabling hospitals to monitor their performance, compare against peers, and identify opportunities for improvement.
The model leverages routinely collected hospital data from administrative, laboratory, pharmacy, surgery, and transfusion systems to evaluate every discharge for a set of high-bleeding-risk procedures, including joint arthroplasties, hip fractures, colorectal and cardiac surgery, hysterectomies, cystectomies, and gastrointestinal bleeding. Unlike survey-based or voluntary registries, this approach ensures real-world, unbiased results while avoiding the burden of manual data entry.
